Exceptional important sculpture from the early 19th century - 1913/1920 - "THE HORIZON" or "INDIAN LYING IN WAIT" signed E. DROUOT - subject in patinated bronze with a dark medal finish. A mythical work - extremely rare in period edition - with a sumptuous and grand presence, attractive and fascinating.

One can only admire this magnificent Native American with long hair, dressed in a furry loincloth and a feathered headdress, lying on the ground. His distant gaze seems focused as he closes his left hand around his bow. The terrace is treated like earth covered with vegetation. Period casting from a model created in plaster presented at the Salon in 1913. Excellent chiseling quality for a splendid warm and deep patina.
