Beautiful Art Nouveau statue of a woman and cherub signed by Rousseau, sculpture dedicated to Pour L'Humanité. Depicting a woman standing on grains with a cherub hugging her legs. Very impressive and in great condition for its age, having original patina. It's a large sculpture, cast in iron and finished with a multi-toned patinated bronze.

Note the details of her clothing and the charming expression on her face, both characteristic of this style. Born in the Ardennes, Rousseau studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. He is best known for his busts, statues, and public monuments, as well as his occasional sculpted portraits.

Born into a family of stonemasons, Rousseau began sculpting at the young age of 11. Measuring 52.5 cm in height, with a base diameter of 21 cm.
