The tchiwara (or ciwara) is the name of a mask-crest used by the Bamara people of Mali during the rites of the ciwara society, one of the six secret institutions that organize Bambara society. It is attached to the heads of dancers, all belonging to the ciwara society, using a woven cap. The dances of the ciwara society are linked to agrarian rites and thus to the idea of fertility, fecundity, and sowing.ASHANTI, BAOULE, BAMILEKE, BAMBARA, SENOUFO, SONGOLA, SONGYE, SUKU, TABWA, TANZANIA, SAKALAVA, YORUBA, YOHOURÉ, YAKA, WAWA, TIKAR, TETELA, PUNU, PENDE, NYAMWEZI, NOK, NGATA, NDENGUESÉ, MUMUYE, MOSSI, MOBA, METOKO, MENDE, MBOLE, MATAKAM, MARKHA, MANGBETU, MAMBILA, LUNDA, LUMBU, LUBA, LOBI, LEGA, KUMU, KUBA, KORO, IGBO, HOLO, HEMBA, FON, FANG, EWE, DOGON, DJIMINI, DAN, CHOKWE, BWA, BOBO, BÉTÉ, BENIN, BEMBE, BAMUN, BAMANA, BAGA, ATTIÉ...
